For our first video, we’re talking about the awesome short Pantheon. It plays as an X-men trailer/recruitment video more than a godly-focused video, despite what the ominescent voice says. I still found it interesting in a ‘proof-of-concept’ way rather than an entertaining focus. Well it is only 4 minutes long and there’s only so much you can do with such a short time frame.
As a side note, I think I got the director’s name wrong. The poster might be a distributer not the director. After all, it does say a different name on the title than on the video hoster info- but that might be a username. Anyway your guess is as good as mine.
Continuing with the theme of doubleheaders, I took a look at a kickstarter pack I got from Short Fuse Media. One problem I have with Kickstarter is that once the funding period closes you can’t get the product unless the seller has post fundraising sales somewhere (their own site/a distributer). This affects Pinkwing more than any of the others which is a shame because it makes such a good children’s comic.
I’m not exactly sure how Short Fuse Media works- do they publish their own in-house creations or do they take a customer’s idea and make it themselves into a comic? I’ll investigate further since I am thinking of making a Darfur 3 comic at some point.
Anyway, I was pretty happy with the comics the media group sold on Kickstarter. I’ve seen their works before (LumberJax #1) so I expected their usual high quality production. But here’s the tricky part- how many of their comics will publish a sequel? I think The Edge so far has more than a few but I don’t know about the others. We’ll just have to wait and see…
