Talk About it Tuesday / Doubleheader of Doom #2

For our first video, we’re talking about the awesome short Pantheon. It plays as an X-men trailer/recruitment video more than a godly-focused video, despite what the ominescent voice says. I still found it interesting in a ‘proof-of-concept’ way rather than an entertaining focus. Well it is only 4 minutes long and there’s only so much you can do with such a short time frame.

As a side note, I think I got the director’s name wrong. The poster might be a distributer not the director. After all, it does say a different name on the title than on the video hoster info- but that might be a username. Anyway your guess is as good as mine.

Continuing with the theme of doubleheaders, I took a look at a kickstarter pack I got from Short Fuse Media. One problem I have with Kickstarter is that once the funding period closes you can’t get the product unless the seller has post fundraising sales somewhere (their own site/a distributer). This affects Pinkwing more than any of the others which is a shame because it makes such a good children’s comic.

I’m not exactly sure how Short Fuse Media works- do they publish their own in-house creations or do they take a customer’s idea and make it themselves into a comic? I’ll investigate further since I am thinking of making a Darfur 3 comic at some point.

Anyway, I was pretty happy with the comics the media group sold on Kickstarter. I’ve seen their works before (LumberJax #1) so I expected their usual high quality production. But here’s the tricky part- how many of their comics will publish a sequel? I think The Edge so far has more than a few but I don’t know about the others. We’ll just have to wait and see…

Talk About it Tuesday / Angel Crush

I wasn’t a fan of this one. It kind of proved why I stay away from Christian literature in general. It’s kind of a shame because I felt the ending was awesome. I really did not see that heart attack coming. It really invokes memories of The Omen movies, though the plot of the sequel doesn’t seem to go in that tack. Doesn’t mattter because I won’t be reading it.

In the meantime, vacation’s over and I’m busy this week dubbing and uploading videos for September. I made a lot of progress on the review queue and I’ve got a month of material ready for dubbing. I’m about to start on October’s projects soon and I’m not ever out of August. But that means no progress on other projects this week as I focus on dubbing.

See you next week with another DOUBLEHEADER OF DOOM! booom
