One of my favorite 90s action comic characters is back! His personality is a bit different in this comic compared to how serious he was in the 90s. I think they made him too goofy compared to what he was like in the past. I don't consider this a bad thing per se. I mean, we are not the same people we were in college. Well, maybe me. But I'm a more of a rock than a person. Chuncks of me fall off over time, but I'm still the same.
Geoffrey Thorne's writing here wasn't as good as Winterman, but he worked the Marvel driven plot pretty well. I recall Yondu being a good guy. This is another example of the movies driving the directions and plot of the comics, which I feel is a bad idea (Unless you create a MCU comic line that closely follows the movies). It annoys longtme fans who've been following the comics, and confuses the movie readers when the buy/bootleg the back issues that don't match the movie plot.
Either way, it was good to see one of my favorites in action. I think he appeared in one of the big crossover arcs that I didn't read. Eh, there's one every summer so you're not missing much. But don't miss out on more of Thorne's work! He's really good at the whole comics thing.
This Friday (I think) I'm going to be interviewed by Mr. Hayashi on the Genesis Science Fiction Radio show. We're going to talk about the best BSFS products I've reviewed over the year. And we'll talk about his book series The Darkside Trilogy. Hopefully I can get him talk about the next trilogy in the book. We'll also talk about how writing works when you're overseas and stuff llike that.
Even if I botch it, I'll post the link to the show here next week. I'm sure it'll be fun. Probably fun for y'all, not so much fun for me.
